Tips For Domain Names
You’ve determined your niche and found
some products to market. Now it’s time
to select a domain name for your website.
A domain name is simply the address of a
website. For example, in the URL
http://www.JourneyToOnlineSuccess.com
the “JourneyToOnlineSuccess.com” part of
the url is the domain name.
When setting up your online business
it’s helpful to have your own domain
name. It gives a professional appearance
and helps you build your identity. It
also adds a level of trust and integrity
for you and your business.
Some tips for selecting a domain name:
- Make it relevant to your business
- It should describe what your website is about
- It should be easy to remember
- Try to use catchy words or phrases
- Choose a “.com” extension over other extensions
because it is more widely recognized and remembered
If you’re having trouble coming up with
a name try brainstorming possible names.
Think about a few words you’d like to
include then write out several variations
on a piece of paper. Try to come up with
about 10-20 potential names on your list.
Then set it aside for a day or two.
Then go back to your list and review. Many
times you’ll be able to eliminate some of
the names and place others in the ‘like’
category. Then keep narrowing down the names
from your ‘like’ list until the right one
appears.
I’ve used this process many times and found
it helpful to get more ideas. It’s not hard,
but it may take a little time. But you’ll be
glad you spent the time when you’re finally
able to select the right domain for your own
website.
