Is It Really Free If…
…you have to give your name and email
address to get it?
It’s an interesting question, maybe
you’ve asked it yourself a time or two…
I guess the answer depends on your perspective.
It can be considered free if you don’t have
to pay any money for it. Or it can be considered
NOT free because you have to provide information.
When I first started spending more time
on the Internet, I used to bypass those
sites that wanted my name and email because
I felt giving the information meant I had
to give something up.
But over time I realized something…
The sites requesting your name and email
in exchange for some free information are
really no different than local businesses
trying to get more customers into their
stores — and to let the customers know of
their other products and services that are
available to help them.
An example that comes to mind is a coupon
you may receive in the mail that offers a
free item, such as a cup of coffee, at
your local coffee shop.
If you like coffee and have the time, you’d
probably go to the shop to claim your free cup–
even though going to the shop requires your
time and travel costs to get your free coffee.
Now the local business isn’t really in the
business of giving away coffee, but they give
it away in the hopes that when you come into
the store you’ll like the free coffee and maybe
you’ll see something else you’d like to buy.
I learned that when sites ask for your name
and email in exchange for something free, they
are merely taking the same gamble as the local
store and hope you’ll like their information and
will want to learn more about how their other
offerings can help you.
So, is it really free?
I guess you’ll just have to decide that
for yourself! ;-)

Does Summertime Test Your Business Time?
First of all — Happy Summer Everyone!
Summer is such a great time of year! And
in many places school’s out so there’s more
time to get involved in summer activities -
vacations, parties, camping, sports, and
all kinds of super fun activities…
If you’re like me, you may find it difficult
to stay focused on business activities when
there’s so much else going on.
But despite all the busyness, I think
summertime is a great time to re-energize
your life and your business!
I know when I can just let go and have fun
it helps to clear my mind. Then when I get
back in the office, I have a fresher perspective.
A way I’ve found to balance things out is
to be very clear on goals and what needs to
be accomplished during business time. That
way I can take full advantage of my time and be
more productive.
So now may be a good time to take a look at your
business goals, determine your priorities and
get clear on what needs to be done.
This can help increase productivity during business
time and allow more time to engage in those great
summertime activities!
Your business will continue moving forward and
your family and friends will love having you
around for more summertime fun!
