Overrated Success? Time to Step It Up

Hi everyone and welcome to my latest journey update!

It’s been quite a ride so far and now it’s time to step things up even further!

You may already know where I’ve been:
–    Four years of serious frustration and getting stuck
–    No dream house and no Lamborghini 🙁
–    Struggling to the max
–    Feeling alone and like an idiot
–    Made less than $200

It’s not a pretty picture…

But that was before and this is now!

I’m on the road to success and for me that means having an extremely successful online business so that I can be financially independent — to have, do and be what I want — and to not have to work if I don’t want to.

(And of course getting that dream house and Lamborghini! 🙂 )

Pie in the sky stuff?

Not to me because I’m going for it all – full steam ahead!

And I am confident I will achieve online success!

So there it is my big vision of success. To get there will take focus and setting goals.

As you may know, I’m a coaching student of Alex Jeffreys and Alex says to ‘Think Big, Start Small’.

So here it goes…

I’m setting my first goal to make $500 online.

Got to get started somewhere – I’ll keep you posted.

Now on to the progress from my last post:

Activities include responding to comments, connecting with my readers, and reaching out to others who are struggling with their online business. These activities will be ongoing throughout my journey.

The new and improved blog design should be ready this week. It’s exciting because it will have some great new features for you, my loyal readers!

My next focus is getting more traffic to my blog.

I want to let people know they are not alone out there in the online world. And I want others to be able to benefit from my successes and failures.

I’ll continue to document what I’m doing so others can follow along, learn from my mistakes and know what to do to achieve their own success.

So here are my outcomes for this week:
–    Research ways to get more traffic to my blog
–    Develop a traffic strategy and start implementation
–    Learn more about Google Analytics to track the traffic

If you have any traffic questions or comments just let me know by commenting below. And if I’m not sure about something, remember I have access to Alex to ask questions. So take advantage of this opportunity and leave your comments below!

Now it’s time to get busy…

Keepin’ it Real,

Donna

I really wish you luck, this thing is not easy even if we’d like to convince ourselves it is.
We just have to keep moving forward whatever it takes!

Hi Yaser, thanks for your comments and well wishes! You are so right, we do have to keep moving forward, and despite the challenges and obstacles, if we focus and do whatever is necessary than success can be ours. To our success 🙂

    Good luck, Donna!
I love the design of your blog – very slick.

How did you reach the others who also struggle with IM? Where do you find them?

    • Donna November 17, 2012 at 11:47 am #

      Hi Alexandra,

Thanks for your well wishes and comments!

You ask a great question! Other struggling IMers can be found in blogging communities, social media markets and forums to name a few places. Internet searches on terms such as ‘Internet Marketing Forums’ or ‘Internet Marketing Blogging Communities’ can provide a wealth of information in the IM world. Thanks for your question Alexandra and for stopping by to comment!

    Donna,

I can SO relate to everything you’re saying!
I’m right there with you in the struggle.

I recently had to return to a “day job” (which REALLY hurts) because I am not yet “making it” online. (Perhaps the topic of my own next blog post?)

    It’s not easy!
But I have faith that it will eventually happen for me, and you should about yourself as well.

I really believe that Alex’s training is invaluable, and gives us the best chance possible to succeed in IM. The rest is in our hands!

      Hi Jen,

I feel ya about the “day job”, I’ve got one too. No matter, we are on the right path because we’re here on the Internet doing it right now! And I agree, Alex’s training is awesome and we just got to ‘KOTOBOT’ as Alex says!

      To our imminent success! 🙂

Hi Donna I came back to your blog after you emailed me thanking me for my last visit and comment.

Firstly I really admire your perseverance. I too am a student of Alex’s and he really is the real deal. He always over delivers on everything he does, but it is still up to us to implement his teachings, something I have been slacking in recently!

I’m at the stage of trying to get more visitors to my blog too. Slowly but surely it’s happening.

Donna here’e some top tips read my blog post on How To Set Your Avatar Image For Any Blog This is how to set your avatar image so that when you comment on your blog posts or any other post it will automatically display your picture giving you more authority.

Also install the plugin CommentLuv. This will automatically leave a link to the blog post you last commented on on your site on any blog you comment on. This will then entice other readers of those blogs to come back to your blog and read your posts.

This will help with attracting visitors to your blog and also people can put a face to the name when they see your comments.

Keep up the good work, much love.

    Steve.

      Hey Steve,

It’s good to hear from you and to learn what you’ve been working on in your business!

Your tips are fantastic! And after reading your post “How To Set Your Avatar Image For Any Blog” I have now set an avatar image that shows when I comment on other blog posts as well as my own. Thanks for helping me get that done! 🙂

The CommentLuv plugin is amazing! I recently upgraded to the premium version and absolutely love it! After installing it I have not had any spam comments come through. This is amazing because I used to get at least 10 or more spam comments every day!

I’m with you that we have to implement what we learn. Taking action is key to moving forward and achieving our goals.

Thanks for stopping by Steve and for providing your great tips!

      Onward to our success!

Hi Donna I’m glad my blog has helped you.

Quick question, how are you building your list? Are you driving traffic to a squeeze page or are you relying on people opting in on your blog. I really need to start building mine as I really need to start capturing my readers as my traffic is growing slowly but surely!

Hey Steve, I use both for building a list – a squeeze page and the newsletter on the blog. Right now I am participating in giveaway events and use the squeeze page for the free gift. What methods are you using?

I have an opt in for my blog but it’s not getting any takers, I think I need to switch it up with a better call to action. I’m keen to start some ad swops but I have 3 subscribers at the moment and one of them is me just to test it out! I haven’t got a separate squeeze page set up yet. How did you do yours, did you outsource? What’s the link to yours I’d like to have a look at it.

Hi Steve, Here’s the link to my squeeze page http://www.WinningWithMarketing.com I got the products and page through Alex’s training program. Your blog offer could also be offered through a squeeze page.

I got started with list building by setting up a squeeze page then participating in giveaway events. I like giveaway events to get started because you can participate as a contributor for free and get opt-ins from the event. Plus you learn as you go and begin to get your email marketing together.

Let me know if this helps. 🙂

    Hey,

Very inspiring post! Many people attempt internet marketing, and give up.
Although it can be frustrating, its essentially the same as any offline business, in terms of getting business off the floor.

Glad you realized that and gave it a second attempt!
I wish great fortune for you in the future!

    Cheers,

      Hi Triston,

Thanks so much for your comments and well wishes!

You make a great point about comparing online and offline businesses and getting started. It can be deceptive when starting an online business because it’s so easy to sit at home and work from a computer. We don’t think about the many parts there are to running a serious business.

Thanks again for stopping by, I appreciate you taking the time! I wish you much success 🙂
