Where did my time go?
“Your greatest resource is your time.”
- Brian Tracy
Ever asked yourself where your time went?
Do you have some days that seem worse than
others?
I know I do, but when you stop and think
about that, it’s only a perception right?
We have the same amount of time everyday
and yet some days we seem to get more done,
like we had more time that day.
You may have heard or read about the many
tips available for managing your time including
the importance of…
- Staying organized
- Prioritizing tasks
- Setting a schedule
- Setting goals
- Minimizing interruptions
…to list only a few.
And these are all good recommendations, but
I think one of the most important things to
do first is to find out where your time is
being spent right now.
When I feel my time is really out of control
I’ll take the time to keep a log of what
I’m doing each day.
I’ll start at the beginning of the day, write
down what I did and how long it took, and
document the entire day, including all
activities, especially the routines.
Usually after a week or so of keeping track
I have a pretty good sense of what’s
happening. From there I can adjust those areas
where I’m duplicating effort or just simply
wasting time.
If you struggle with time management and
you’ve never kept track of your time in writing,
I’d like to challenge you to try it at least once.
You just might be surprised at what you discover!
“Until we can manage TIME, we can manage nothing else.”
- Peter F. Drucker
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Focus Thoughts & Forward Momentum
“Time is more valuable than money. You can
get more money, but you cannot get more time.”
- Jim Rohn
Evaluate one activity in your business and determine
if the time spent is realistic and worthwhile.
Have a great week!
