Balancing Your Business Time

Well summer is fast approaching – seems like
just yesterday we had started a new year

And in many places school’s out so there’s
more activities to participate in such as
vacations, parties, sports, and various
other kinds of super fun activities…

If you’re like me, you may find it difficult
to stay focused on business activities when
there’s so much else going on.

A way I’ve found to help balance things out is
to be very clear on goals and what needs to
be accomplished during business time. That
way I can take full advantage of my time and
be more productive.

So now may be a good time to take a look at your
business goals, determine your priorities and
get clear on what needs to be done.

This can help increase productivity during business
time and allow more time to engage in those great
summertime activities!

Your business will continue moving forward and
your family and friends will love having you
around for more summertime fun!

Overwhelm & Goal Setting

“Mile by mile it’s a trial;
yard by yard it’s hard;
but inch by inch it’s a cinch.”

I think this is a great quote and find
it especially applicable to setting goals.

Sometimes I think if we focus only on our
end goal it seems to be so far away that
it’s overwhelming just thinking about it.
I know I’ve had times when I became
immobilized because I felt the end result
was just too daunting to even try to achieve.

How about you? Ever had similar experiences?

I can recall when I was younger and having
to help work in our vegetable gardens. One
thing that needed to be done was to weed
around the plants in all the garden rows.

Now, each row was probably 80 to 100 feet long…

As you might imagine, when looking down the row
from one end to the other — holy mackeral –
it really was quite a long distance!

I remember feeling so overwhelmed and drained
of energy looking down the row, I just wanted
to quit and wished I were somewhere else!

But then I learned a very valuable lesson…

Instead of constantly looking at the end of the
row and feeling tired and wore out, I learned
to focus my attention instead on the small area
in front of me, weeding one plant at a time.

It was an easy task and it was manageable – weeding
one plant at a time. And before I knew it, I had
reached the end of the long row!

As the quote goes – inch by inch it’s a cinch.
And I believe it does work better this way…

So if you’re feeling overwhelmed with your goals
try setting several smaller, manageable goals to
focus on. You just might end up achieving your
goal faster than you thought possible!

Change and Focus

Alright, the new year is officially here.
Have you thought about your business plan
for this year?

If you’re seeing the kind of success you
want then it would make sense to continue
what you were doing.

If you are not getting the results you want
then it may be time for some change.

You may have heard the following quote:

“If you do what you’ve always done,
you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.”
-Anthony Robbins

It’s hard to argue with that, wouldn’t
you agree?

So this is a great time of year to take a
serious look at what worked in your
business last year and what might have
gone better.

Then determine what your business goals
are for this year. The more specific you
can be the better. For example, if you want
to increase your income, set a specific
amount. That will make it easier to measure
your results and outcomes.

After setting your goals develop a plan
to focus on how you will achieve them.
Include any lessons learned from last year
and make changes where needed.

Remember that sometimes it only takes a
small adjustment to make things happen and
achieve results.

I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving!

This year seems to have gone especially fast and
the holiday season is already upon us. It’s truly
a great time to celebrate life and be with family
and friends!

It’s also a time to look to the future, keeping
your business in mind and where you will take it
this coming year.

I have found it helpful to set a schedule that
includes both holiday fun and business activities.
Combining both helps bring balance during this
busy time.

Even though the next few weeks may be hectic, it’s
important to find some time to reflect on your
successes and determine what you want to accomplish
next year.

If you have your own business you’ve probably
thought about the following question…

Why do you want an online business?

Of course many of us want to make extra
income, but what about the other benefits
of being able to:
- Work from home
- Spend more time with family
- Travel
- Give more to charity
- Buy a new car or home

These are dreams aren’t they?

…to have more time and money to be able to
do more and spend more time on what’s really
important and valuable to us.

To achieve our dreams it’s important to know
what our dreams are.

And for me, I’ve found it also helps to write
things like this down or type it into a file
that can be printed out and posted on a wall.

Having this information available on a daily
basis helps me stay more focused on what it is
I want to accomplish.

I think the key though to achieving dreams is
to know what it is you want as an end result.

Dr. Joyce Brothers says it best:

Setting Home Business Goals

Setting goals for your home business is
vital, and setting appropriate goals can
help you be successful.

Many people have just one goal in their
mind – to make income. A goal like that
is really not bad, but it helps to specify
in detail your desires, how you will
attain them, and what steps you plan to
take to achieve them.

Here are a few tips for setting home
business goals effectively.

Identify the long term goals- it is
important to know what you want to attain
in the future. The long term goals can be
made one year out. Setting these goals
can help you stay motivated and excited
about achieving your home business objectives.

Build your short term goals- after you
set long term goals, it helps to break
the goals down into smaller activities.
The goals can be divided into two parts-
monthly and weekly. Setting these short
term home business goals will help you focus
on specific activities needed to reach your
goals.

Challenge yourself- being your own boss can
have its disadvantages. You might just feel
too comfortable and get relaxed about
your work. Treat your home business seriously
and take daily action to accomplish your
scheduled activities.

Be practical- although it’s important to set
far reaching goals, it’s just as important to
be practical. If your goals are too high and
impractical then you may end up failing in
your tasks. Find a balance that helps you be
successful in your home business.

Give yourself incentives- this is extremely
important if you want to stay focused and
motivated. After achieving a goal, even if it
is short term goal, reward yourself for a job
well done. You could go on a dinner, or treat
yourself with a fun activity or excursion.

Setting proper home business goals can
provide you with success in your business.
You just have to try the magic for yourself!

Summer is such a great time of year! And

Here are some common Internet Marketing (IM) terms:

Guru - This term refers to people who have been
successful in a specific area, such as IM, and
who are considered experts in that field.

Mailing List (or Subscriber List) – A list of
people and their email address that was obtained
by people opting in to be on a specific list.

Sales Copy – The information on a website that
promotes a product or service and pursuades the
visitor to make a purchase.

Your email’s bombarded with new product launches…
The products promise awesome success…
There’s a limited supply and time is running out…

So what do you do?

Do you feel the urge to have to buy right now today?

When you are searching for the right answers
and want to be successful, it’s easy to get caught
up into the hype isn’t it?

We make decisions based on information we may
not have thought through or in hopes it really
is the right answer this time and we don’t
want to miss out.

Over the years I’ve learned a little trick to help
make better decisions and get past these situations.
And that is to wait for at least one day before
making the purchase.

Many times just by stepping away for a little
while you will get the edge you need to think
about it more logically.

Sometimes it helps to ask questions:
- Does this fit into my business goals?
- Am I ready to use this information?
- Is it something I will take action on?

If it still makes business sense to make the
purchase, then buy it. But if you’re not as sure
now as you were initially, then take some more
time to think on it. If it doesn’t fit your plan
then you can be comfortable in making the decision
not to buy.

This even works when you’re out shopping and
see something you feel you just gotta have.

Give it a day before you buy and you just might
end up saving yourself some money…
