Work Your Priorities

Have you ever felt that despite all the
activities you are doing in your business you
don’t seem to get the right things accomplished?

I know I have and it can be very frustrating.
Having your own business can be taxing,
especially when you’re just getting started.

You find yourself playing all the business
roles as owner, web master, accountant, analyst,
advertiser, marketer, etc. And along with the
roles comes all the responsibilities, which at
times can be overwhelming.

Something I found that helps me through this
is to make a list of what needs to be done and
then identifying which items on the list are the
most important.

The most important activities are then scheduled
first and any available time is spent on getting
those items completed. Any other items can be
worked on after that.

There is only so much time available each day
and knowing which tasks are most important for the
business helps me focus the time I do have wisely.

Sometimes it’s not how much you get done but
rather what gets done that matters most.

I think Stephen Covey says it best:

“The key is not to prioritize what’s on your
schedule, but to schedule your priorities.”
