Two Elements For List Building

An important strategy for businesses is to
find customers for their products and services.
Internet marketing is no different and building
a list of subscribers is an essential part of
doing business. Once you have a list you can
then communicate with your list and provide
valuable information and resources.

The two basic elements for building a list are:
- A squeeze page, and
- An email autoresponder service

The squeeze page and autoresponder work hand
in hand for getting a list started.

A squeeze page is a simple website, usually
one page, that is designed for the single purpose
of getting an interested individual to sign up
onto your email list. A squeeze page is also
known as a landing page, magnetizer page or
sign-up page.

The squeeze page will usually have a sign up box
where a name and email address can be entered.
This box is generated by an email autoresponder
service and is specific to your account.

When someone signs up on your squeeze page, the
name and email information is captured and
stored in a database maintained by the email
autoresponder service. This stored list of
names and emails then becomes your list.

Once you have a list of subscribers you can
connect with them through your autoresponder
service by sending various messages. This helps
you stay connected with your subscribers and
gives you a way to provide valuable information
and resources.

Balancing Your Business Time

Well summer is fast approaching – seems like
just yesterday we had started a new year

And in many places school’s out so there’s
more activities to participate in such as
vacations, parties, sports, and various
other kinds of super fun activities…

If you’re like me, you may find it difficult
to stay focused on business activities when
there’s so much else going on.

A way I’ve found to help balance things out is
to be very clear on goals and what needs to
be accomplished during business time. That
way I can take full advantage of my time and
be more productive.

So now may be a good time to take a look at your
business goals, determine your priorities and
get clear on what needs to be done.

This can help increase productivity during business
time and allow more time to engage in those great
summertime activities!

I sure have and I think in times such as these with
our current economic issues it’s even more difficult

Tips For Domain Names

When setting up your online business
it’s helpful to have your own domain
name.

It gives a professional appearance
and helps you build your identity. It
also adds a level of trust and integrity
for you and your business.

Here are a few tips for selecting
a domain name:

- Make it relevant to your business
- It should be easy to remember
- Try to use catchy words or phrases
- Choose a “.com” extension over other
extensions because it is more widely
recognized and remembered.

If you’re having trouble coming up with
a name try this brainstorming technique:

Think about a few words you’d like to
include then write out several variations
on a piece of paper. List 10-20 potential
names and then set it aside for a day or two.

Then go back to your list and review, placing
some names on the ‘like’ list and eliminating
others. Keep narrowing down the names over
the next few days until the right one appears.

I’ve used this process many times and found
it helpful to get more ideas. It’s not hard,
but it may take a little time. But you’ll be
glad you spent the time when you’re finally
able to select the right domain for your own
website.

Staying motivated – You are your own boss
and there is no one else to give directions
or to guide your activities. It’s up to you
to get things done.

Being clear on why you want your own
business can help motivate you during
those times when things aren’t going
as well as you would like. Another helpful
way is to set goals to keep focused and
on track.

Managing your time – There will be times
when other people will expect your
attention or your participation in various
activities simply because you are at home.
You are readily accessible and appear to
be available for other activities.

Setting your business hours and making others
aware of your hours should help alleviate
conflicts with your time schedules. Be firm
with your hours and remind others you are
not available at certain times.

Making decisions – You set your own goals
and plans to achieve them. You are the one
who must make decisions in many areas of
your business from time management to
defining your budget.

Establishing goals and setting priorities
will help with making business decisions.
Be clear on what you want to achieve and
have plans in place to help guide you.

Just being aware of potential challenges of
working from home can be beneficial. And having
some ideas on how to to overcome obstacles
helps us be more successful in business.

Time Management Tips for Business

“Time is more valuable than money. You can
get more money, but you cannot get more time.”

Have you ever asked yourself –

“Where did my time go?”

Or have you ever noticed that on some days
it seems you had more time than other days?

I know I have, but when you stop and think
about it, it’s only a perception right?

Realistically we have the same amount of
time everyday. Yet on some days we seem to
get more done, like we had more time that day.

Doing certain things can help create that
perception while also helping to manage
business time more effectively.

Here are some important tips to keep in mind:

* Stay organized – having to look for things can
waste time

* Prioritize tasks – focus on important work first

* Set a schedule – commit to certain days/times

* Set goals – know where you want to go

* Minimize interruptions – spend focused time on
important activities

Another tip I’ve found helpful is to find
out where your time is being spent right now
by keeping a log of what you do each day.

I’ll start at the beginning of the day and
write down what I’m doing and how long it took.
I’ll include activities and routines for the
entire day.

Usually after a week or so of keeping track
I have a pretty good sense of what’s
happening. From there I can adjust those areas
where I’m duplicating effort or just simply
wasting time.

If you struggle with time management and
you’ve never kept track of your time in writing,
I’d like to challenge you to try it at least once.

You just might be surprised at what you discover!

Three Reasons To Consider Affiliate Marketing

There are many different ways to start an online
business – eBay, network marketing, niche
marketing, pay per click, etc. Sometimes it can
be overwhelming just trying to figure out where
to get started.

I’ve found one of the easiest ways to get started
is through affiliate marketing. Listed below are
three reasons why I believe it’s such a good choice.

Start up costs for affiliate marketing are very low.
Normally it’s free to join an affiliate program,
and all the product set-up and shipping costs will
be taken care of by the merchant whose products you
are selling. There’s no inventory to maintain and
even customer service issues are handled by the
merchant.

Another reason to consider affiliate marketing is
there are thousands of products to choose from.
No matter what niche you are in you should be able
to find products to market. A quick way to start
finding products is to do an Internet search
including the word(s) of your niche along with either
‘affiliate products’ or ‘affiliate programs’.
For example, if your niche is dog grooming you could
enter ‘dog grooming affiliate products’ and see what
is available.

Finally, there are generally no long term contracts
for affiliate marketing which bind you to selling one
particular product. If the product you chose isn’t
bringing in any revenue, you can stop marketing it
and move on to another product to promote.

For these reasons I firmly believe that affiliate
marketing is the easiest way to start your online
business. It’s a great way to help keep your initial
costs down and it just seems to make sense.

I don’t know about you, but I’m always on the lookout
for easy ways to get things done! So if you’re still
trying to decide which way to go with your business,
consider giving affiliate marketing a good look for
your business start-up.

Is A Website Necessary?

When starting an online business a question
that comes up is whether or not a website
is really needed.

Views on this differ and I think it really comes
down to the type of strategy you apply in your
business model.

If you’d like to quickly get your business
going you can become an affiliate for another
company’s product. Then you can promote your
affiliate link which will take potential
customers directly to the company’s website.

By taking this approach you can receive commissions
for any sales and you wouldn’t need your own
website.

Not having a website can save time and money
because you won’t need a domain name or web
hosting, and you don’t need to learn how to
get a website up and running.

The downside of this strategy is you won’t be
able to build your list of potential customers.
Many people do not buy with their first exposure
to a product and need to hear about it many
times before they are ready to purchase.

If you send a potential customer directly to
the company’s website then you are not capturing
their name and email address and you essentially
lose the capability to contact them in the future.

If, however, you want to build a long term business
it helps to at least have a simple website to
capture names and email addresses. This allows you
the opportunity to contact your list multiple times
about similar products that may be benefitial to them.

There are many ways to get started online. Keep
in mind it is possible to make income with or
without a website. Your strategy will help
determine what will work best for your business.

On The Road To Success

It’s good to have a reminder that as we
move along our journey to success there
will be discouragements and failures.

A technique I find useful when evaluating
situations in business is to ask questions
such as what worked well and what didn’t, or
simply asking what I can learn from this.

Taking a different perspective of failure
and learning from it helps us grow and
move forward with a new awareness.

As Henry Ford stated:

“Failure is only the opportunity to begin again,
only this time more wisely.”

Many times when going through a frustrating
period it’s hard to see beyond it. But if we
remain true to our purpose for being in
business we’ll get through it just fine.

Remember that failures are simply bumps
along the way as we travel forward on the
road to success.
